Arrested Development By Any Other Name…

Starts to sound a lot like spiritual laziness, to be nice, rampant immorality, abnegation of responsibility for the cultivation of Agency, Spiritual Practice, Virtue, oh I said it…and after a few dozen books on developmental psychology, economics and oh my personal development I realized that as a society most people stopped growing at the ontological equivalent of eight grade. I’d make citations but…if you can’t look it up, you probably just don’t want to know.

But what’s the problem then? Aren’t we all equal and inherently valuable. Yes, in the way that tyrants are human and thus inherently valuable. The way that just by walking around you happen to be part of shit so….yeah no not really. The thing is developmentally the consequences are disasterous. Because most people by eighth grade havent actually earned things like…volition…agency, an ACTUAL Functioning SELF.

So what you’re saying is….yeah, self determinism, no, not really. True prefferencees…you might THINK they’re yours. The horrible thing is what happens when someone needs a human to actually behave like a human and there’s no authority fiugre ot boss them, no codependency to coerce them and damn no indipendently cultivated and prioritized moral architechture to guide them…so that really nice, spiritual, loving person you looked up to? If they too haven’t made it to ontological grad school, the minute it’s inconvenient, unpopular or mostly: not profitable, you can bet that mask is coming off and something very unconscious ugly and unalive is going to not take over…revealitself. And that’s the reality in a world where self development is corny, we’re paid more if we only question horrific leadership when we’re feeling a little sassy. And of course as a person with no self generated direction is going to cling stagnant comfort like an addict on a fix, collectively we have evolved FIELDS of bullshitting ourselves as to why when its most important, a few people help each other out at great risk while everyone else stares at their phones. And even if its to use headspace, they’ve still an part of a collective ontologoical failure.
